Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to have a ThinkorSwim (ToS) account?
It would be helpful to have a ToS account, since that’s what Astute both uses as a brokerage platform and references in position screenshots and video tutorials. We find that the options functionality and capabilities of ToS are superior to that of other providers. Having a ToS account would put us on the same page of fluency and familiarity, but it is not a requirement. We empower you to execute the trades and adjustments we provide, so feel free to use whichever brokerage platform is most comfortable to you.
Does my brokerage account need to be approved for all 5 levels of options trading?
Yes. Our trades are dynamic and handcrafted to the current market situation, so we want to make sure you’re in a position of full flexibility to execute when the time comes. This is a similar form to what you’ll need to fill out if you’re not already approved for all levels of options trading: click here
Does my brokerage account need to be a margin-approved account?
Yes, just in case. Portfolio Margin is preferred to regular margin. Here’s some more information to see if you qualify: click here
How do I allocate my capital?

How many options contracts do I buy or sell with a given amount of money?
Options have a multiplier of 100 (i.e. 10 options contracts = 1000 shares). Before you place a trade in ToS, make sure the cost or credit and share count pass the sniff test!
I’m new to options, how can I get my feet wet?
